Escape

Escape.jpg

Escape is my own design that was created within the perimeters of a class with Nancy Crow. It came after my Rockpool quilt. The way I create my work, is I design on a wall board without any preconceived ideas of the finished look. I start without bit of an idea and allow the design to grow. Once it’s fully completed, that is quilted and edged, I hang it back on the design boards and consider what emotions, thoughts it reflects to me.

I like that my quilts say different things to you , the viewers. What do you see?

I live in Turangi which is well known for its fly fishing. Up the road is a trout hatchery where the also raise the endangered Whio (blue) ducks.

In this quilt I see the blue area to be representative of the Whio ducks which integrates into the hatchling trout which are escaping out into the river
